The 1-5 makossa walkup progression

Hi pals, today we will focus on a simple makossa movement on the piano called the 1-5 walkup progression. Read on and be blessed.
In our previous lessons, i posted two helpful videos from other keyboardist that i found on Youtube. These videos covered some more tricks and techniques to playing makossa. Among many of the things taught by these nice keyboardists, i will be teaching you the 1-5 makossa walkup progression. If you have been playing worship songs on the piano, you probably would have come across walkup and walkdown progressions. For this particular lesson, i treating a walkup progression so lets get right into it. A walkup progression is simply a progression that  that moves upward to a particular chord in a song. The 1-5 makossa walkup progression moves from the 1 chord (Doh) to the 5 chord (Soh) but we won't be playing only these two chords. We will be playing a 1-2-3-4-5 progression which is Do-Reh-Mi-Fah-Soh in solfa notation. If you watch this video and this video you will notice that they played something right at the beginning of  each video. Though what they played varied a little because of their own creativity, but i put it to you that they played the 1-5 makossa walkup progression. Now lets discuss this in the key of C major. Since the 1-5 walkup progression is 1-2-3-4-5, then the chords to this progression are

1

2

3

4

5

But personally, i like to invert all the chords used in this progression to their first inversions. When i do so, the progression will then become.

1

2

3

4

5

Wait a minute, are you sure you have watched one of those videos? if not quickly do so before we continue (there download buttons available for the videos) because if you don't you will not be able to play this progression with the right rhythm. Since many of you don't have any formal training on sight reading, i cannot be able share the rhythm of this progression. I can only be able to illustrate how many times a chord was played. Here is it below

1-2-3-4.....5-5.........5-5-5

                 or
 Doh-Reh-Mi-Fa...............Soh-Soh.......Soh-Soh-Soh

Final words
we have  come to the end of this tutorial, all i will advice you to do is to watch those videos i posted in my previous lessons and note how they played this walkup progression and practice it in all 12 keys. Bye for now.
